Well Won Wells!

11 November 2013

In the 2013 English Open final 2 game match, Jamie Bottomley faced UK Bowler of the Year John Wells.
In the semi-final Bottomley had ousted Danni Hopcroft, whilst Wells saw off 2012 English Open champion Lisa John.
Game one saw Wells start with an open frame to Bottomleys' spare, but Wells was soon putting in the strikes with six in a row, whilst Bottomley was struggling with nine counts, and single pin miss in the 8th frame meant Wells could capitalise, winning 238 to 185, much to the delight of the local supporters. Game two gave Bottomley a huge challenge to make up the 53 pin difference against an on form opponent. Bottomley came firing out of the blocks with five in a row but a bad break in the sixth frame meant a still striking Wells was able to finish off his opponent with a 276 game to Bottomleys 198.
